HOW TO GET GOOGLE ADS CERTIFICATION: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Google Ads certification is a professional accreditation that Google offers to individuals who demonstrate proficiency in both basic and advanced aspects of Google. It serves as a recognition for experts in online advertisements. The exam is free and can be taken anywhere.

STEP 1: CREATE OR SELECT YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT

The Google account to be used for your certification is determined by whom the certification is for.

For a company, it is much better to use your work email account. If the certification is for you, you should use a Google account that you want your certification tied to both personally and publicly.

If you don’t have one, you can create a new account at accounts.google.

STEP 2: JOIN ACADEMY FOR ADS

Ensure you are logged out of any other Google accounts that you may be signed into on your device as this may cause some confusion in the long run.

Once you are logged into only the account you want to use for the certification, visit academyforads and click on the “Get Started Now” button. Read through and accept the terms of service to proceed. You will be presented with an option of sharing your Academy for Ads account with a company. If the certification is for your personal use, select “no” to continue the process.

If you are affiliated with any company, select “yes” to connect your account to your Google Partner’s company account. You will be required to update your profile by providing necessary information that connects you with the company and complete an email verification step for authorization from your company. You will need to communicate with your company to complete this step.

STEP 3: PREPARE FOE EXAMS                               

Google provides free learning materials for both basic and extensive educational academy. All of the training content, information about the exams and the assessments for the Academy of Ads can be found on the dashboard of the homepage.

It is advisable to review both the video and written content and succeed in the practice exams for each module. The sample questions are in the same format as the exam so familiarize yourself with them.

STEP 4: PASS THE EXAM

Google requires you to pass the Ads fundamental exam and at least one additional product advertising exam to get the AdWords Certification. The additional exams are;

Search.

Display.

Mobile.

Video.

Shopping.

It is advisable to pick an area that suits your advertising style or one that you have an interest in so as to maximize the value of your accreditation. It is important to note that your certification will be given for the specific product focus of the additional exam you take. While you are required to pass only one additional exam, you are allowed to take as many of the additional exams as you like.

The certification exams can be taken as many times as possible so, even if you fail, you can retake it after the waiting period you must observe has elapsed. The exam is available in 21 languages so language should be no barrier. Finally, it is pertinent to note that the certification has a validity period and when it expires, you will need to successfully retake the exams to remain certified so, note when your certifications expire so you can renew on time.
