That’s right WordPress 2.8 is just around the corner.
The exact date it will be available I am not sure of but there are some cool changes with the widgets and theme installer.
I installed the beta (on a non working site of course) and created a quick video to show you some of the changes that will be coming.

Thanks for the intro on WP update 2.8 and I can see some useful features and some they missed. I like the installing the theme and doing changes right on the dashboard, saves a lot of time. Also the dual widgets bar…is great. As always you explain it so very easily and clearly for us old newbies. Cheers, Teri

I love the change in the Widgets, you don’t know how many times I forgot to save the changes, went and checked the page, only to have to go back and do it again.
I also don’t know how many times I have duplicated a widget in two sidebars because I couldn’t remember what I had in the other sidebar.
This is a very nice improvement.

It is working fine for me you might have clicked twice on it and that stops the video and is supposed to take you to YouTube to see the video.
If you don’t see it this time refresh the page and see if that brings it up.

Thanks Randy but there is nothing for me to click on the page. All I see is a blank screen on the page. I tried refreshing and I still get the same results so it must be my computer.
No big deal, I have read everyone’s comments and it sounds like WP 2.8 has some very useful features that will benefit all of us.

Thanks much for the link Randy! I just viewed the video and love the changes especially on widgets. Woo hoo, no more scrolling down the page to save changes on which is something I forget to do many times.
The ease of installing themes is a neat feature too.

Thanks for reminding me to take the sticky off of this post. My favorite feature is the change in the widget management. I also have more than one side bar and I love being able to see what I have in each of them at the same time.
